Forest to Final: How we use your Timber
As part of our sustainable approach to timber harvesting, we use every part of your trees.
MAVIN Timber is different from many competitors in the timber buying industry because we own and operate our own sawmill. We produce furniture from the lumber we harvest and mill through our MAVIN Furniture division. No one else in Ohio and the surrounding areas harvests timber, cuts the logs, dries the lumber and builds furniture. There’s no middleman; you work with one contact from MAVIN, and you can see the products we produce from your trees.
Who is Mavin?
Haven’t heard of MAVIN Timber? MAVIN Timber was formerly Winesburg Hardwood, and we rebranded in Spring 2022. Nothing has changed except our name. We’re still the same people, with the same experience and leadership in the timber industry.
Our company history began in 1975. Levi Coblentz and his son Robert Coblentz started a new endeavor in timbering, calling the company Winesburg Hardwood. They quickly built a trusted track record with landowners in Ohio and became a leader in timber management in the region. Today, MAVIN’s timbering experts help landowners turn trees into profitable lumber.
MAVIN has three divisions: MAVIN Timber, MAVIN Pallet (formerly Winesburg Pallet) and MAVIN Furniture (formerly Palettes by Winesburg).
Landowner FAQS
Many landowners have questions about the timber harvesting process. Here are some frequently asked questions about selling timber to MAVIN.
What will my land look like after the process?
MAVIN’s selective harvesting process means care for your property is our top priority. We take extra care of your land because we have respect for these natural resources. Our timber crews complete a reclamation process, including reseeding, excavating yards and skid trails.
Why do you leave treetops and stumps?
Leaving treetops is part of our sustainable tree harvesting process. This protects your land, as stump removal and dragging treetops can harm the young saplings. Treetops provide shelter for wildlife and, as they decay, provide important nutrients. With the tree canopy opened up, the remaining trees will have access to more sunlight and water, helping them thrive. Your land will be more profitable in the future and the process will be less harmful to wildlife.
Are your crews professionals?
We are very proud of our timbering crews, who maintain the highest standards. Our crews are comprised of certified Master Loggers, and they follow safety protocols and behave responsibly on your property.
Why haven’t I heard of MAVIN?
MAVIN was formerly Winesburg Hardwood, but we rebranded in 2022. The company has remained entirely the same, other than the name change. Winesburg Hardwood has been in business since 1975, and we are well-known throughout Ohio. If you’ve worked with or heard of Winesburg Hardwood, you know MAVIN.
Is MAVIN a part of any industry associations?
MAVIN is a member of The Ohio Forestry Association (OFA). Our Master Loggers are certified through OFA. MAVIN also is a member of the National Hardwood & Lumber Association.
Can you price my timber value over the phone or email?
There are many factors associated with valuing timber. To help you get the maximum value from your timber, we require a one-on-one site visit to create a quote. It also gives us an opportunity to get to know you and for you to get to know us.
