Checklist for Selling Timber
Here are some general guidelines for determining if your property is a good fit for selling timber:
Minimum 20 acres.
This is just a good general guideline. We will consider smaller properties with the right number of mature trees. Since we use a Selective Harvest Process, we want to ensure that your property has enough acreage to sustain both mature trees for harvesting as well as younger trees that will mature for future generations.
A mix of mature trees and younger saplings.
MAVIN is not a clear-cutting operation. We choose to harvest mature trees only, leaving younger trees and saplings. This eco-friendlier selective harvest process means once we remove the mature trees for lumber, the opened tree canopy lets more sunlight and water reach your younger trees, helping them grow.
We Buy Hardwoods of Different Species.
We use maple and cherry wood to make MAVIN furniture. Since we have our own proprietary sawmill, we make our products on-site. We also buy hardwoods of other species, including white oak, red oak, elm, poplar, walnut and others.
